As anticipation builds for the 2025 MOVE Congress, Friday’s dynamic line-up of speakers promises to explore a broad range of themes – from wellness, refugee advocacy, play and early childhood, to active ageing and health & physical literacy. All under the #activating banner.
The morning session will feature new insights into play delivered by Jasper Schipperijn, Head of the World Playground Research Institute, who will explore how well-designed play environments can boost children’s physical, social and mental development. Trine Top Klein-Wengel, an authority on preschool physical activity at the University of Southern Denmark, will also discuss the implementation of activity programmes in preschool settings.
Under the topic of Health & Physical Literacy, Grim Jernudd of Swedish community sport organisation Change the Game will be joined by Drew Mitchell, Senior Director of Physical Literacy at the Canada-based Sport for Life Society and Dr Kristine Sørensen, award-winning health advisor, researcher and author. Astère Tuyikorere, a pioneering advocate for refugee and youth sport, will also present his personal insights on refugee integration and empowerment in his adopted home of Rwanda.
Internationally acclaimed wellness expert and broadcaster Dr Audrey Tang will take centre stage in the afternoon when the focus shifts to the topic of Active Living & Healthy Ageing. She will be joined by Dr Dorthe Stensvold, an exercise medicine expert specialising in ageing and health at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Also on Friday, the topic of community engagement will be addressed by Joe Smith of the US-based Centre for Healing and Justice through Sport (CHJS), and Lebanon’s Lynn Hajj, Project Coordinator at the sport for social change organisation GAME – each bringing valuable perspectives on community empowerment.
With over 500 registrations to date, the 2025 MOVE Congress is shaping up to be its most comprehensive edition yet. More speaker announcements are on the way, and registration remains open. Remember, ISCA Members can still take advantage of discounted rates before 30 September.
