Anticipation is building for what is certain to be the biggest and most exciting MOVE Congress to date. With at least 850 participants confirmed, the 2025 Congress has completely sold out and attendance is set to be twice that of the most recent event in Madrid. This phenomenal growth reflects the growing global interest in its core focus areas, which extend beyond the traditional boundaries of grassroots sport and physical activity.
With its core themes of #activating people and communities and boosting participation, the 2025 MOVE Congress in Copenhagen boasts more than 100 speakers from across the world, alongside a packed schedule of active study visits and special events. Notably, over eighty per cent of attendees will be joining the Congress for the first time, demonstrating the event’s increasing relevance and expanding reach. Today, the MOVE Congress has become an open and engaging international platform that continues to attract new audiences and trigger positive change.
“Over 850 people from 200 organisations in 60 countries will come together to turn ideas into action” says ISCA President Mogens Kirkeby. “At a time when the world needs more collective effort, this will be a powerful expression of those who are driving participation and activating people and communities. I’m thrilled that DGI, Denmark, and ISCA are hosting this event in Copenhagen — fittingly, thirty years after ISCA was founded here.”

The Congress will offer an environment where ideas can be shared, partnerships formed, and solutions developed. Networking opportunities will not only be about building professional relationships; they will help build a broad movement that enables #activation in communities worldwide. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend interactive workshops and attend expert-led discussions, designed to spread best-practice knowledge and connect people from different sectors. Focus areas include mental and physical health, social inclusion, health literacy, active schools, safeguarding, active ageing, and the prevention of gender-based violence.

Broad movement
As always, physical activity is at the heart of the MOVE Congress. While participation is optional, there will be plenty of opportunities to get moving — from morning swims with the leaders of DGI and ISCA to bike tours, club visits and immersive urban exploration. A silent fitness session (complete with headphones) and the playful “Move for Fun” workshop will highlight the Congress’s commitment to well-being, social connection and creativity, while Innovation Alley will showcase new projects and ideas that are shaping the future of movement, sport and health.

The MOVE Congress 2025 is made possible with support from partners Sport Event Denmark, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the European Union and Cities for Better Health. Another key partner is The City of Copenhagen, whose involvement will give participants the chance to explore the Danish capital’s world-renowned cycling infrastructure and learn from its approach to urban spaces that encourage active living.
With its record-breaking attendance, sold-out status, and an extensive line-up of speakers and events, the MOVE Congress 2025 is poised to be a landmark event for the grassroots sport and physical activity sector. ISCA and DGI look forward to ensuring that the Congress is an unforgettable experience for every participant.
