Mental health and wellbeing in the workplace

MOVE Congress Workshop
Friday 17 November, 11:45-13:15
Room: Salamanca + Avila (1st floor)

Workshop facilitator: Barbara Brennan, Change Maker, Stigma Disruptor and Mental Health Advocate, Ireland

Mental health is a critical aspect of overall wellbeing, and it plays a significant role in our lives. This mental health workshop aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and equip participants with valuable tools to promote mental wellbeing.

We will cover mental health from several points of view: an individual’s, workplaces, and also the NGO sector that’s aiming to help and support people. We will incorporate the importance of physical activity impact on mental health, along with tips and tools on minding your own mental health or supporting someone who is struggling with theirs.

Barbara is ready to give our MOVE Congress participants a masterclass in stigma disruption in a warm and creative way – get ready to play, share your thoughts and be moved by her powerful story of surviving suicide and rebuilding a fulfilling life.

“I look forward to your participation and commitment to raising awareness about mental health in the grassroots sport and physical activity sector.”

You will come away from this workshop feeling energised and more confident to:
  • Differentiate between mental health, mental wellbeing and mental illness
  • Recognise and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental health
  • Introduce practical strategies to enhance resilience among your participants (and your own resilience skills)
  • Use tools that can support people’s wellbeing
As our sector is becoming more intertwined with public health and wellbeing promotion, you won’t want to miss this workshop, especially if you strive to foster a culture of mental wellbeing and support through your work.

Register today for the MOVE Congress 2023.

Note: Confidentiality and a safe, non-judgmental environment will be maintained throughout the workshop.

ISCA Coordinator of this session: Rachel Payne
